The Association of Latin American Sugar Producers (UNALA) is proud to announce the participation of its President, Alfredo Vila, in the 34th International Sugar Seminar, organized by the International Sugar Organization (ISO) and held in London on December 2–3, 2025.
During the session titled “Working Together,” Mr. Vila presented the 17 case studies developed by the Association, which document the most notable contributions of its members to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These studies highlight the Latin American sugar sector’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and regional development.
In his remarks, the President of the Association shared details regarding:
- The process of developing the studies, based on thorough research and technical analysis.
- Field visits conducted across various member countries, which made it possible to gather first-hand experiences of the programs documented.
- The official presentation of the studies at the United Nations in New York in May 2025, where they were recognized as a significant contribution to the global dialogue on energy, water, and sustainable development.
The Association’s 17 case studies are available on the official United Nations website at the following link: Publicaciones de UNALA en la ONU
The Association’s participation in this international forum reaffirms its leadership in shaping regional narratives and its commitment to a more sustainable future for the regional sugarcane and sugar beet agroindustry, as well as for the communities that depend on it.
