The Association of Latin American Sugar Producers, UNALA, represents the sugar agribusiness in 13 countries in the region. According to data reported by UNALA members, published in the Sugar Yearbook 2022 and the Ethanol Yearbook 2022, our members produce approximately 30% of the world’s sugar and approximately 30% of the world’s ethanol. In addition to generating more than 6.5 million jobs, some of our members also co-generate renewable electricity from sugarcane biomass, which is key to promoting sustainable development in Latin America.
