Sugarcane ethanol is the biofuel with the lowest carbon footprint in the world. Ethanol is a clean and renewable energy source, for sustainability throughout its chain and for the generation of jobs and income.
The properties of ethanol mean that it is considered one of the main renewable fuels for the transport sector. In the Latin American region there are several countries that develop the production of ethanol from sugarcane, but not all of them accept its use.
From UNALA, we are working to develop education and training courses to support the unification of criteria and the creation of appropriate legislation that allows the use of ethanol in the transport matrix
The Latin American countries that currently produce ethanol are:
- Argentina
- Brazil
- Bolivia
- Colombia
- Ecuador
- Guatemala
- Paraguay
- Peru
